July 14, 2014 Joshua “Real J” Clowney spent his 26th birthday at a funeral. One week prior he was planning to do what he had done for most his adult life, spending it wasting his life away partying, engaging in sexual promiscuity, and any other means of short-lived pleasures. It was a few days leading up to his birthday when he received a call that a relative of his had unexpectedly passed away. Spending his birthday at a funeral and hearing the pastor give the eulogy of his relative, woke something up within him that afternoon. He knew if he was to have died at the moment he would not have nothing but pain and regrets he would have left behind. He knew his life needed to change, and he decided it was time truly to follow who he had always heard was the way, the Truth, and the life. That day he rededicated his life to the Lord. He also began on July 31st of what he now coins as the 100 Day Challenge. In this challenge he devoted time to focus on his relationship with the Lord, while also physically training, reading and writing. It was in this time where he discovered his love for writing and making songs through the art of rapping. This became an outlet to express the change he was going through but it also became a means to help others who may have felt hopeless and lost as he once did. Every year Real J gets better and better and God is doing major things through the movement that has now become The Love Movement.
